Routine Hardwood Care
Sweeping and dust-mopping are the biggest keys to your successful routine hardwood care. Use a soft bristle broom or dust mop and sweep the wood surface as frequently as you can on a weekly basis. This will remove harmful dirt, dust, debris, and pet dander particles before they become abrasive and scratch your hardwood’s pristine appearance. Consult your hardwood manufacturer's warranty before wet-mopping your floor and use as little water as needed.
Hardwood Spills & Stains
When a spill does occur on your hardwood, it’s important to treat it as promptly as possible to prevent moisture damage. Lift any solid material gently with a spoon and paper towels, then begin blotting the spill with a dry clean cloth or paper towels. Start from the perimeter of the spill and blot towards the center of the spill. Use a gentle hardwood-specific cleaner to spot treat the area if needed and ensure a dry wood surface after treating the spill.
Enjoying Your New Hardwood
We always recommend a number of preventative steps to enjoy your new hardwood. Arm all entranceways with mats and encourage guests to scrape footwear before entering the home. Have guests remove footwear by the door during inclement weather. Place area rugs with area rugs pads underneath to help protect the wood surface. Also, make sure to keep all pets brushed regularly and nails trimmed to prevent scratches to your floors.
